Acne Scarring Concerns: Consultation in Narellan

Discuss changes left after acne

If you are concerned about marks or unevenness after breakouts, a useful first step is to explain what you have noticed and ask what assessment is appropriate. You do not need to identify a scar type or choose a procedure before seeking advice.

Nuva Aesthetics offers RN-led consultations at Lexyor Beauty Centre in Narellan. This guide helps you prepare questions about acne scarring concerns. It does not diagnose your skin or establish that a particular treatment is suitable.

Describe the concern, not just the label

When you say “acne scars”, explain whether you mean changes in colour, indentations, raised areas or a general difference in how the surface looks or feels. These observations help frame your questions; they do not replace clinical assessment.

Note which areas concern you, approximately how long the changes have been present and whether you still experience breakouts. Mention discomfort, irritation or recent changes as well as appearance.

Questions about assessment and referral

Ask your clinician what they can assess, whether another healthcare professional should be involved and what information would help clarify your options. If you are receiving care for acne, explain your current plan and who is managing it.

You can ask: “Are the changes I am describing scarring, another skin concern or a combination, and what should happen next?” Do not assume every mark left after a breakout needs the same approach.

Asking about SkinPen microneedling

SkinPen® microneedling is a listed service at Nuva Aesthetics. If you are considering it, ask whether it is relevant to your assessed concern, what its limitations are and whether an alternative or referral would be more appropriate.

This page does not claim that microneedling suits every scar type, removes scars or produces a particular degree of change. Ask for an explanation that relates to your skin rather than relying on a general service description.

Bring your acne and skincare history

Prepare details of previous acne care, prescribed skin medicines, current skincare and earlier procedures. Include any reactions or healing concerns you have experienced. Have your relevant health information, medicines, supplements and allergies ready to discuss.

Do not stop or change prescribed treatment to prepare for a cosmetic appointment without advice from the clinician responsible for it. Ask the clinic for individual preparation instructions if a procedure is being considered.

Questions before agreeing to a plan

  • What is the concern being assessed, and what are the limits of this assessment?
  • Should ongoing breakouts or another skin issue be addressed first?
  • What options could be considered, including no procedure or referral?
  • What changes are realistic, and what is unlikely to change?
  • What risks, recovery requirements and aftercare should I understand?
  • How would progress be reviewed, and what would the full cost be?

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose a treatment from a photograph of a similar scar?

A photograph of someone else cannot establish what is appropriate for your skin. Use it to explain your questions, then ask for individual assessment and a discussion of limitations.

What if I still have acne?

Tell the clinic before booking and explain any current care or prescribed treatment. Ask which appointment or healthcare professional is appropriate rather than assuming a cosmetic procedure should be the next step.

How many sessions would I need?

This guide does not recommend a fixed course. If a procedure is proposed after assessment, ask why that schedule is recommended, when it would be reviewed and what costs are involved.

Can improvement be guaranteed?

This page makes no guarantee of improvement or scar removal. Discuss realistic expectations, uncertainty and alternatives before deciding whether to proceed.
