Dry or Dehydrated-Feeling Skin: Consultation in Narellan
Start with how your skin feels
If your skin feels dry, tight or uncomfortable, explain those sensations rather than assuming you need a cosmetic treatment. You might also notice flaking, a change in how makeup sits or a different surface appearance. These observations are useful to discuss, but do not establish the cause.
Nuva Aesthetics offers RN-led consultations at Lexyor Beauty Centre in Narellan. This guide helps you organise your questions and ask what assessment is appropriate. It does not diagnose dryness or dehydration or provide a treatment plan for a skin condition.
Dry or dehydrated: do I need to know the difference before booking?
You do not need to diagnose your skin before asking for advice. Rather than choosing a label, describe where you feel discomfort, how long it has been present and whether it is constant or comes and goes. Ask whether the concern is appropriate for a clinic consultation or should be assessed by your GP or another healthcare professional first.
If your skin is persistently irritated, painful, cracked or changing in a way that worries you, seek medical advice rather than treating it solely as an appearance concern. For urgent medical concerns, seek prompt medical care.
Keep a record of recent changes
Before your appointment, note any new skincare, prescribed treatments or recent procedures, along with when you started noticing symptoms. Describe what happens after cleansing or applying products, without assuming a particular ingredient is responsible.
Bring product names or photographs of labels, how frequently you use each product and any instructions you have already received from a treating clinician. Include relevant health history, medicines, supplements and allergies.
Questions about your current routine
- Does my skin need medical assessment before discussing cosmetic options?
- What information would help you review my current routine?
- Should I check any proposed changes with the clinician managing my prescribed skin treatment?
- What should I do if a product stings or my discomfort persists?
- What signs should prompt further medical review?
Do not stop or change prescribed medicines based on a general website guide. Ask the clinician responsible for your medication for advice.
Do not assume a procedure is the next step
A dry or tight feeling does not establish that microneedling, an injectable service or any other cosmetic procedure is appropriate. Ask about assessment and a review of your concerns before selecting a service from a menu.
If a procedure is proposed, ask why it is relevant to your circumstances, what alternatives are available and whether it should be deferred. Clarify its limitations, risks, preparation, recovery, aftercare and full costs before deciding whether to proceed.
Frequently asked questions
Does tight-feeling skin mean I am dehydrated?
This guide cannot determine the cause of a tight feeling. Describe the sensation and any accompanying symptoms to an appropriate healthcare professional rather than relying on the word “dehydrated”.
Should I exfoliate before my consultation?
This page does not recommend exfoliation or adding new products. Ask for individual advice, particularly if your skin feels irritated or you are using prescribed skin treatments.
What if my skin also looks dull or uneven?
Explain appearance and comfort concerns separately so neither is overlooked. Our guides to dull-looking skin and skin texture concerns can help you prepare questions, but do not replace assessment.
Can I book a discussion without having treatment?
The listed consultation with RN Catherine is a 30-minute discussion and assessment appointment, with no treatment performed during the session. Contact the clinic first to confirm whether it is appropriate for your concern or whether another healthcare provider should assess you.
