Consultation Only vs Consultation and Treatment: Which Appointment?

Choose the appointment that fits your questions

If you are unsure what to book at Nuva Aesthetics, first consider whether you want a discussion without treatment during the session or want to enquire about a particular service. You do not need to decide which procedure is suitable before asking the clinic for help with booking.

This guide explains the difference between the listed discussion-only consultation and consultation-and-treatment appointments. Booking a service does not establish suitability or guarantee that a procedure will take place.

Consultation only: time for discussion and assessment

The consultation with RN Catherine is listed as a 30-minute appointment to discuss your goals, assess suitability and explore options. No treatment is performed during that session.

This is an appointment to ask about if you want to explain several concerns, understand your options or take information away before deciding whether to proceed. Confirm with the clinic that it fits your enquiry, particularly if you are asking about a medical concern or previous treatment.

Consultation and treatment: an appointment linked to a service

Nuva Aesthetics also lists service-specific consultation-and-treatment appointments, including Anti-Wrinkle Consultation & Treatment and Lip Enhancement Consultation & Treatment.

These names identify the service being discussed, not a promise that treatment is appropriate for every person who books. Ask the clinic what the appointment includes, whether treatment could take place during the session and what assessment and preparation would be needed.

The practical difference

Discussion-only consultation: the listed appointment is for discussion and assessment, with no treatment performed during that session.

Service-specific appointment: the enquiry relates to a named service. Any proposed procedure still requires individual assessment and a discussion of risks, alternatives, limitations and costs. Confirm the arrangements before booking rather than assuming same-day treatment.

If you want to keep your options open

Tell the clinic that you want to ask questions before making a decision. Explain what you have noticed, what you hope to understand and anything you would prefer not to change. You can ask for information to review and take time to consider it.

A consultation does not require you to choose a procedure. Ask how any later appointment would be arranged if you decide to explore an option further.

If your concern involves previous treatment

Contact the clinic before selecting a touch-up or another intervention. Explain when and where the earlier procedure took place and what you would like reviewed. Ask which appointment is appropriate and what records to provide.

Our previous-treatment review guide helps you prepare a routine enquiry. Seek medical care for urgent concerns rather than waiting for a routine cosmetic appointment.

Questions to confirm before booking

  • Which appointment fits the questions I want to discuss?
  • Does this session include treatment, or is it discussion only?
  • What is the appointment length and consultation fee?
  • What preparation or health information is needed?
  • If a procedure is proposed, when and how are the full costs explained?
  • What happens if treatment is not appropriate or I choose not to proceed?
  • How are further appointments and follow-up arranged?

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know the treatment name?

No treatment choice is needed to ask for booking guidance. Describe your concern and ask which consultation fits, rather than selecting a procedure because its name sounds relevant.

Can I have treatment during the consultation-only appointment?

No treatment is performed during the listed 30-minute consultation-only session. Ask the clinic about any later appointment arrangements.

Does booking a consultation-and-treatment appointment guarantee treatment?

No. A booking or listing does not establish individual suitability. Confirm what assessment is required and discuss the proposed option before deciding whether to proceed.

What if I have an event coming up?

Share your event and travel dates when enquiring. Ask about assessment, recovery and follow-up rather than assuming a procedure can be fitted in immediately beforehand. Read our event planning guide to prepare those questions.
